Animal agriculture is extremely inefficient. It uses large amounts of land, resources, energy and wastes greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants. Some experts claim that this causes the largest habitat loss worldwide, and animal agriculture accounts for about 14,5 percent of all human emissions.

Cultured meat offers a potentially sustainable alternative. Much of laboratory-grown meat is derived from animal cells and is therefore not vegan. However, cell-based agriculture has significantly less impact on both the environment and the animals themselves than animal agriculture.
Last year, a report by the renowned global consulting firm stated that much of the meat consumed will not come from slaughtered animals until 2040. He estimates that around 60 percent of all meat will be plant-based or cell-based.
Now that it simplifies the cultured chicken production process, companies in the food and ingredient supply industries aim to partner with each other. The aim is to continue developing high quality, low-impact meat products and to increase reach worldwide. Although lab-grown meat has not yet received federal approval, it is predicted to be available in 2021.
